Creating a kinder, more compassionate world through Radical Listening.

The Sanctuary of Peace and Healing is a community dedicated to helping people cultivate self-awareness, emotional wellbeing and meaningful connection through Radical Listening, compassionate relationships and shared learning.
We offer listening training and we run community circles and gatherings that bring together psychology, philosophy, contemplative practice and community to help people better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships and experience a deeper sense of belonging.
Over the past five years, we have offered more than 1,500 free face-to-face listening and counselling appointments. We have sat alongside people experiencing grief, anxiety, loneliness, relationship difficulties, burnout and major life transitions. We have listened to stories of courage, heartbreak, resilience and hope. Although every story is unique, many reveal the same quiet longing: to feel more connected to ourselves, to one another and to life itself.
These conversations have shaped everything we do.
They have taught us that many of the challenges we face are not simply problems to be solved, but invitations to understand ourselves more deeply. We have come to believe that human flourishing begins with self-awareness, grows through compassionate relationships and is sustained by communities where people feel seen, heard and valued.
Radical Listening lies at the heart of The Sanctuary
Listening is far more than hearing another person's words. It is learning to meet ourselves and others with curiosity rather than judgement, openness rather than certainty and compassion rather than criticism. It is the practice of paying attention so fully that something new becomes possible. When we feel deeply heard, we often begin hearing ourselves differently. We notice the patterns that shape our lives, the protective strategies we have developed and the quieter wisdom that has been waiting beneath them all along.
The ancient invitation to Know Thyself remains as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago. Yet many of us have never been shown how. Drawing on psychology, neuroscience, contemplative traditions, Internal Family Systems and our own framework, The Wheel of Me, we create opportunities for people to explore themselves with honesty, kindness and curiosity, discovering that there there internal world is far richer and filled with more space and possibility that they have been led to believe.
Whether you come to us for support, join our Radical Listening Course, attend a workshop, take part in a community circle or simply begin exploring these ideas through our writing, you are joining a community that believes a kinder, more compassionate world begins with the way we listen; to ourselves, to one another and to the world around us.
We would be delighted to welcome you.

Listen deeply. Lead quietly. Change the world.
